A Double Celebration

Hi Everyone,

Hope you had a great Valentine's Day, and got to spend time with someone you love.
I have a good friend who has a double celebration on February 14th, as it is also her birthday. This is the card I made her:
Another good friend, who shares my love of putting pen to paper, is celebrating her birthday today, so I made her a card too:
I can’t decide which I like better— the bright background or the paler one— if you have a strong preference please leave a comment to let me know. If you include your birthday, maybe I’ll surprise you on your special day.
Last week I was in Lancaster & Philadelphia, and it was COLD!!! I saw snow for the first time since I moved to Florida more than 23 years ago… it was beautiful, but I’m glad to be back home where the temperature is well above freezing.
Since I got home I’ve been concentrating on creating the graphics for my new website. It's almost ready to launch, and I thought you guys would like a ’sneak-peek’. This is a screen shot of the home page:
And here are close ups of some of the buttons:
This next button is my favorite:
The site is built in Wordpress, and will have a real shopping cart. It's mobile friendly, and is supposed to load a lot faster. Best of all it will be easier to navigate— for example, the videos will be divided into sections (i.e. lettering, patterning, coloring), so you can find the type of tutorial you are looking for. The blog posts will be also searchable by topics (i.e. Free Downloads, Dangle Designs, Remembrance). I’ve added a calendar, and a bunch of new images to the gallery, and would welcome your ideas of what else to include.
Please leave a comment if you have thoughts on how to make the new site awesome… I appreciate your input.
Stay Zenspired,

I love your work and I love both cards, but I think the first one is my favorite. Your lettering is amazing. I've been making my own cards and bookmarks for a few months and I enjoy making them. I share them with the ladies in the Bible studies I attend with scripture to encourage them.
Can't wait to see your new web page, it looks great from the sneak peek. Thanks so much for sharing your talent so freely. It has brought me great joy to watch you work.

My birthday is August 25.

I like the first one for Valentine's Day card but the second one really stands out for a birthday celebration! Either one is beautiful though!

how did you create the tracey wording. was it via blending the penss together so they flow from one to the next by scribbling one colour and picking it up with the next via pallet or did you do each colour as a section of tht makes sense.

Joanne - I love the "sneak peeks" of your new website👍. I can't wait for it to be launched.

The cards you made for your friends are amazing...just like you! I like both backgrounds, but do prefer the brighter one. Just in case you aren't busy in mid September (ha ha ha) my birthday is 9/19/47. Thank you in advance just in case!

Oh, dear!!! So many prefer the brighter background! I'll go out on a limb and say that I truly prefer the softer one, but I must quickly add that I love many elements of the second one too! You are just amazing and your lettering looks effortless, but I know that it is all great talent and hard work!
Your new website looks like it will be so YOU! Fun, whimsical, informative, and just chock full of wonderful things! I own your Zenspirations book, and I've "beaten the tar" out of it from use!! 😄 Thank you for sharing your gift!
My birthday isn't until December 31....terrible time for a birthday in that Christmas has just ended and everyone is ready to celebrate New Year's Eve....and restaurants will NOT take dinner reservations that night!! 🙁 Not that I'm sorry I was born!😱 I just realize my birthday is waaaaaay out there!
You inspire, and your heartfelt blogs and wonderful books are real blessings! I love seeing your talent being utilized in so many arenas! You go girl!! ❤️

I love the bright background. I'm excited for your new website. My children and I love your books and reference them often! My birthday is in a few weeks, March 18. 😊

Hi Joanne,
Thanks for always asking for our opinion when you are doing new things. I know for me and probably others it makes me feel a part of the whole Zenspirations family!
I'm excited about your new website, especially if it loads faster. The face page and buttons are great. I love the calendar idea, hope to see the metro DC area on it this year!
For cards I tend to lean toward the pastel one, maybe because I'm a pink and blue person - the Pantone colors of the year are so me, but for most people I'd say something between the two if possible.
Birthdays are special, mine is June 30, but more IMPT Bud's 5th bday is Mar 23and he will almost be done with his cancer treatment at that time so it's a real reason to celebrate 🐾,

I prefer the birthday card with the pale background. I don't care for the bold and more abrupt color shifts in the card with bright background.

I like the buttons you've designed for your website!!! Good luck with it….. Andrea Penn

Oh Joanne, it's hard to know where to begin. I love everything you make. I can't wait for the new website. If there were a coloring sheet section, I would love that. I share your coloring sheets with my ESL students. Many of them are so new to Canada that just coloring seems like pure fun...which it is. But at the same time they are learning a whole new alphabet. Some of them never learned the alphabet of their mother tongue, so this reading and writing is very strange. Ask them to cook you a meal, however, and you're in for a treat! So, I hope you don't mind me sharing your lettering designs with my students. The also like to cruise the internet so I always share your URL with them. We'll have great fun watching for the new developments!
and deep bows of gratitude.

I prefer the pale background. But, both are beautiful! And, my birthday is April 24. As for your new website...I love the look of it. It looks fresh and colorful and sounds like things will be organized well. Can't wait until it is launched.

I like the lighter one and would love to learn how to create something so beautiful..
1st question: is there a blog video for this?
2nd question: how do I find the blog? I have tried several things and have given up hoping for some guidance.

Hugs to you all and help please

I am so looking forward to your new website. It looks beautiful and sounds easy to navigate to find inspiration and specific skills. Will you post on fb when your site is live? I would hate to miss out. I have been practising your monogram lettering skills and ideas. I love them. I only recently stumbled across your work as I have had time to spend on the things I love to do for the first time in years....long story! I haven't done much calligraphy or design for years, and I love it! I would love to get my hands on some of the beautiful pens you use but have been unable to source them where I live. I am not in the US or Canada.
Personally, I prefer the brighter colours simply because I always prefer brighter colours. Thank you for all you create and share. Your video tutorials are very clear to follow. Best wishes, Annie

My favorite card is the second one--the one for Wendy, my wife. Great job!

Also, the new site looks great and I love the buttons.

I love your new site. Impeccable taste as always. Your work is always uplifting. It inspires me to keep trying to sketch and put painter color to paper. I'm hopeful that one day I can master a lettering style that would enable me to have beautiful script. Thanks for continuing your art and assuring others along the way.
